Responsible designers in an agile environment

Agile teams and companies are increasingly organized in such a way that pure project manager roles from classic organizations interfere more than support within the established processes and are obsolete. But no matter whether SAFe, LESS, Lean, Scrum or Kanban: the targeted use of resources for the optimal design of products is more essential than ever. For this purpose, “owners” are needed at strategic, tactical and operational levels who maintain an overview, coordinate, inform and accompany projects throughout the agile organization.

Implement portfolio projects consistently

Agile teams are getting better and better at translating user requirements into high-quality IT solutions. But the Product Owners, who develop their applications and components, necessarily have a certain silo view of their own area. Even the product manager cannot always successfully deal with this, for example in larger projects involving different trains or teams. In larger organizations, can the strategic goals of the management be consistently achieved without additional structures or in a management by committee approach and translated into homogeneous solutions for the customers?

We believe that strategic projects that are to be implemented across teams need an owner. Together with the various roles of the agile organization, the owner defines consistent user-centric solutions. As the person responsible for implementation, he or she bears the undivided responsibility for achieving the strategic goals and keeps an eye on the impact achieved in the market.

Giving impulses and designing solutions

Our Epic and Capability Owners analyze business processes, collect requirements, and design the IT solutions in demand together with business specialists and product owners. This results in new business model canvas, optimized business processes and user-centric user journeys, minimal viable products and feature backlogs.

Sparring partner for the parent organization

In keeping with the spirit of IT follows Business, it is important that the parent organisation operating in the marketplace takes a leading role in designing its IT solutions and managing its suppliers. With an external Epic or Capability Owner, the parent organization gets a sparring partner with a fresh view on the business and on the cooperation with customers and suppliers.

Coordinate suppliers and developers

Epic and Capability Owner consolidate expectations and requirements and communicate these clearly prioritized to IT for solution development. If required, we carry out structured evaluation procedures to select suppliers. And during implementation, we clarify open questions, monitor the adoption of the solution by users and initiate measures.

Stefan Haller

Stefan studied computer science and holds a Swiss Federal Dipl. Ing. FH degree, and also holds an EMBA in Business Administration.
He holds certifications in requirements engineering, project management (Hermes, SAFe), risk management and Atlassian. Stefan is a part-time lecturer for project management at a university of applied sciences.

Dominique Nagpal

With over 21 years in IT and consulting, Dominique has many years of experience in project & change management, purchasing and management consulting. Dominique is also specialized in the field of mediation and conflict management.

Mario Siegenthaler

Mario has over 20 years experience in software development and has worked as CTO, Head of Business Unit, Team Leader, Software Architect, Software Engineer and Head of Nearshoring.

Anna Schmassmann

Anna has 8 years of experience in software development and IT. She studied computer science and graduated with an MSc in Computer Science. She holds certifications in requirements engineering, project management (Hermes/SAFe), Java programming and Atlassian.

Patrick Scheidegger

Patrick is a federal computer scientist in the field of Service & Technology Solutions and a business analyst SGO-CAS. He has many years of experience in project management and consulting and has planned, designed and executed numerous architectures during 19 years. Additionally Patrick has certifications in project management (SAFe & Hermes), requirements engineering, IT service management (ITIL) and Linux.
